Idolatry

Catholic friends, this is called IDOLATRY. If you are engaged in idolatry, then God will not hear or answer your prayers. Look this up in your Catholic Bible… go to the table of contents in the front of the Bible and find the page number for the book of Leviticus. Turn to it and then look for the large numbers till you get to chapter 26. The first verse says this:

“You shall not make idols for yourselves; neither a carved image nor a sacred pillar shall you rear up for yourselves; nor shall you set up an engraved stone in your land, to bow down to it; for I am the Lord your God.” – Leviticus 26:1

Your sins (idolatry, lies, stealing, lustful thoughts, hatred in your heart, blaspheming God’s name) have created a barrier so that God is actually angry at you and will not hear your prayers:

“But your iniquities have separated you from your God; and your sins have hidden His face from you, so that He will not hear.” – Isaiah 59:2

To have any hope that God will hear your prayers, you must first turn away from idolatry and go to the Jesus of the Bible to be cleansed from sin. How do you get this cleansing that opens the path between you and God? Here are the instructions directly from God’s word — untouched and unadulterated by the corruption of man made religion:

“What must I do to be saved?”  – Acts 16:30
“I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish.” – Luke 13:3
“Repent, and believe in the gospel.” – Mark 1:15
“I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes” – Romans 1:16
“But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all who believe. For there is no difference; for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,” – Romans 3:21-23
“If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” – Romans 10:9-10
“For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted; but the sorrow of the world produces death.” – 2 Corinthians 7:10
The word “repent” was used over and over again in God’s Holy Word above. It means to feel sorrow for, and turn away from, your sin. Also we see that “righteousness” (or being made “right” with God) can only be attained through faith in Jesus Christ.
The Lord Jesus said if you reject His word you are rejecting Him (John 12:8). Jesus also said that if you do not believe He is who He claims to be, you will die in your sins (John 8:24). Accordingly there is only one way to be saved — by God’s grace through faith in His Son. Let’s see again what the Bible actually says about how this takes place:
“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.” – Ephesians 2:8-9
You must cease from trusting in anything you DO and put all your trust in Jesus and what he has DONE. You must stop trusting in religion and put your trust in Jesus’ sacrificial death on Calvary’s cross as the complete payment for your sins.
How will you escape if you neglect so great a salvation? Now is the day of salvation (2 Corinthians 6:2).
Be made right with God through repentance and faith. Be spiritually reborn as a child of God so that He can open his ears to you and hear your prayers. Forsake idolatry. Turn your back on rules that men have made up. Forget anything that is not written in God’s Holy Word. Trust in Him alone.
